Over the next decade, Booker T. & the M.G.'s released a string of hit records, including "Soul Man," "Hip Hug-Her," and "Time Is Tight." The band also backed up some of the biggest names in soul music, including Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Sam & Dave.
Producer and Arranger
In the 1970s, Booker T. Jones began to focus on producing and arranging for other artists. He produced albums for Bill Withers, Albert King, and Neil Young, among others. He also arranged the strings for the Rolling Stones' classic album Exile on Main St.
Jones's work as a producer and arranger helped to shape the sound of popular music in the 1970s and 1980s. He is known for his ability to create lush, soulful arrangements that showcase the talents of the artists he works with.
Later Career
In recent years, Booker T. Jones has continued to perform and record with Booker T. & the M.G.'s. He has also released several solo albums, including Potato Hole (1997) and The Road from Memphis (2011).
