Ingrid Bergman was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1915. She began her acting career in Sweden in the early 1930s. In 1939, she signed a contract with Hollywood's MGM studios and made her American film debut in the film Intermezzo. Bergman went on to star in a number of classic films, including Casablanca (1942),For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943),and Notorious (1946). She won three Academy Awards for Best Actress, for her performances in Gaslight (1944),Anastasia (1956),and Murder on the Orient Express (1974).

Bergman was also a successful stage actress. She made her Broadway debut in 1946 in the play Joan of Lorraine. She went on to star in a number of other Broadway productions, including A Doll's House (1954),The Visit (1964),and More Stately Mansions (1969). Bergman died in London in 1982.

Bette Davis

Bette Davis was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1908. She began her acting career in the early 1930s. In 1934, she signed a contract with Warner Bros. studios and made her film debut in the film Of Human Bondage. Davis went on to star in a number of classic films, including Jezebel (1938),The Letter (1940),and All About Eve (1950). She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress, for her performances in Dangerous (1935) and Jezebel (1938).

Davis was also a successful stage actress. She made her Broadway debut in 1929 in the play The Front Page. She went on to star in a number of other Broadway productions, including The Children's Hour (1934),The Corn Is Green (1953),and Night Watch (1972). Davis died in New York City in 1989.

Katharine Hepburn

Katharine Hepburn was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1907. She began her acting career in the early 1930s. In 1932, she made her film debut in the film A Bill of Divorcement. She won four Academy Awards for Best Actress, for her performances in Morning Glory (1933),Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967),The Lion in Winter (1968),and On Golden Pond (1981).

Hepburn was also a successful stage actress. She made her Broadway debut in 1928 in the play The Lake. She went on to star in a number of other Broadway productions, including The Philadelphia Story (1939),The Time of Your Life (1939),and Coco (1969). Hepburn died in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, in 2003.

Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor was born in London, England, in 1932. She began her acting career as a child. In 1942, she made her film debut in the film There's One Born Every Minute. She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress, for her performances in Butterfield 8 (1960) and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966).

Taylor was also a successful stage actress. She made her Broadway debut in 1953 in the play The Gift of Time. She went on to star in a number of other Broadway productions, including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1955),The Little Foxes (1956),and Private Lives (1969). Taylor died in Los Angeles in 2011.
