About the Book
In this deeply personal and moving memoir, Rachel Kadish explores the complexities of family, love, and identity. Kadish was raised in a secular Jewish household in New York City, but her father's family was from Poland and her mother's family was from Russia. She grew up feeling like an outsider in both worlds, and she struggled to find her place in the world.
As a teenager, Kadish was sent to Israel to live with her grandparents. This experience was life-changing for her, and it helped her to finally feel connected to her Jewish heritage. However, she also struggled with the culture shock of living in a new country. She was often lonely and homesick, and she felt like she was always being judged.
After graduating from high school, Kadish returned to the United States and enrolled in college. She continued to struggle with her identity, and she found herself drawn to both Jewish and secular communities. She eventually found her place in the world when she married a Jewish man and had children. However, she still continued to struggle with her own sense of self, and she often felt like she was living two separate lives.
In Rachel In The World, Kadish writes about her experiences with honesty and candor. She explores the complexities of family, love, and identity, and she ultimately comes to a deeper understanding of herself and her place in the world.
