NILI agents operated throughout Ottoman Palestine, gathering information on troop movements, supply lines, and strategic targets. Arab-Jewish Relations and the Balfour Declaration

Aaronsohn's involvement in espionage brought him into close contact with both Arab and Jewish leaders.
